Barely Even a Person – Part 2

So so so last chance in Sofia, what did we do?

We kicked off at 10:30 AM with the first slot at The Red Flat Museum. It’s an “interactive” apartment designed to look exactly like a typical family life during the communist era. To me, the space is only big enough for a couple, if they had children… someone would definitely have to sleep in the leaving room.

We got an Audioguide, I heard some “interesting” facts. For instance: back then they had to wait 5-6 years to get a washing machine ~not just because of shortages, rather it cost roughly 60% of their monthly salary, vacations could only be taken at designated times and specific state approved locations, meaning you’d most likely end up spending your holiday with your coworkers.

After postponing MOMA Bulgarian restaurant for Ribs Brothers, it was finally their turn 🙂 We ordered a massive 900ml drink Rosa and Strawberry Juice + sugar haha. Even the waiter asked “is the size ok?” yes we are thirsty. The food was delicious, though it was definitely on the pricier side.

Next, off we go to Catholic Cathedral, had “difficulties” to figure out how to get inside, only to realize the entrance door was directly in front of us the whole time. Maybe our sins blocked it #Facepalm

Last but not least, we visited the Jewish Synagogue, well… what can I say, had to buzz the intercom, explain who we were, showed our ID, only then the security opened the gate. He asked: how do you two know each other? Surprised being asked, we answered in perfect, rhytmic union: We are friends, travelling friends. Paid 10 Euro entrance fee, gezzz! do you need more fund?

The moment we stepped outside, rained poured down with no signs of stopping. I still had one mission left: mailing a postcard for Rüdiger. We ducked into Markethalle to grab a snack while wait… hoping the rain would ease up… perhaps? Nope, it’s even getting bigger. Refusing to wait forever, we walked through it. Irina had a hoodie, I had plastic from the markethalle to which Irina she it to a “Grandma poncho” #Getting old is very quick 😉 mailed it, went to our AirBnB, took an umbrella, bought some Rose Bulgarian Mask and our final mission: Midsommar!

We finally finished the movie, let me tell you, it brought way more “WTF” moment than before. It was so incredibly bizzare: her covered in flowers, him paralyzed then sewn into a bear skin. We couldn’t help but laughing 😀

Enjoy the fun part while we could, because our outbound flights had no mercy #Departed at 6AM and 7AM. I am a panic traveler, especially when it comes to arrival time at the airport. Eventhough distancewise only 26km away and supposedly reachable within 30-40 Minutes, I insisted on leaving the apartment at 3:45AM.

Due to our cashless behavior, the driver took advantage of us, he charged 40 Euro (real cost would only be 26 Euro). Look, I don’t mind he made a bit of extra profit for working those overnight hours, a max 33 Euro would have been fair. You’re gonna get some Karma, Sir!

Eventually, I made it back to Dortmund, spent the entire day make over of the whole sleep deprivation. Irina made it back to Amsterdam then slept for 12 hours haha. This trip is really something hey!

Thank’s biatch! Sofia was a very good idea. Without you, I wouldn’t have ben able to add new country visited on my list 🙂
