Evolving August

My Marnniversarlyn happens to falls on the same day as Gamescom ~ actually… always, however before meeting my boyfriend, I had absolutely no clue. So, I thought to myself: how about if I celebrate my 6th year in DE by evolving into his gaming world? As long as I get to play Super Mario Bros again, I’d be happy!

Gamescom is in Kölnmesse Deutz, right on the entrance we got a Free Instant Ramen #Me likey! Dom asked which hall I wanted to see first? What else besides looking for my things: Super Mario Bros and Adventure Island, off we dasched to the Retro Hall!

Struggled a bit to track down my childhood games at first, so we stopped by our first Freebies Counter, grabbed some kind of Energy Drink, stumbled upon Pacman! where I promptly kept on dying pfff. Walked to other line, spotted similar version of Super Mario called Jenni something which you played using a Joystick. Done with that one too, continue walking until we found Super Mario Version 2! Although the graphic wasn’t exactly the OG Version, they were close enough to bring back all the nostalgia. On our way to grab some lunch, we passed the ultimate prize: OG Version with a giant Nintendo console. Def gotta come back, I absolutely need to play on that giant machine!

We had lunch in another Halle then met Dom’s friends Kerstin und Ralf. From two became four. We followed them, getting on another freebies while me & Kerstin got Henna tattoos. Some of the stands had incredibly elaborate setups put together with so much intentionality. I mean, I never knew a tractor could be that massive in real life! There is obviously Dom’s fav game, Forza Horizon 6 #Everyday. I found my Cooking game! Reminds me of “Cooking Mama” from a PDA while I was 16-17 years old.

Dom wanted to buy an official Gamescom shirt, I was like “no way, I have enough Beitrag geleistet aka entrance ticket”. He like a dragon model, while I rather scared of it until I found out the designer of that logo is Indonesian! Aha! Then it became a must buy item 😉

An hour before it closed, we rushed back to Retro Halle to get free ice cream + play on big Nintendo. Unfortunately they were already running out of ice cream huhu but at least no more line on Super Mario! Whereas I found my joy on Mario, I couldn’t find Adventure Island 🙁

After leaving Gamescom, we headed to Köln City Center for Dinner, carrying our Freebies, my Asian’s side full with questions: what do Im gonna do with this? do I really want those pins, stickers? or a Giant paperbag which looks like a winning cheque hahaha my German’s side: kann man immer gebrauchen 😉

Want to see how I still got it at Mario Bros? #Some things doesn’t gets old 😉
