I was scrolling to my Facebook Groups, checking if there is an interesting new post then I stumbled upon one group named “Dortmund Language Cafe”. There is one lady who later I got to know her name is Nino posted “anyone interested in a FREE German class? Level B1” uwoooo! interesting! that is more or less my current level plus it’s for FREE! Registered myself!
The German course is every Monday (präsenz) and Friday (online) organized by a volunteer organization here in Dortmund called “Train of Hope”. They do have other activities too!
I did try to join the “Zumba for Ladies” on one Saturday, wore my new Napoli Trikot from Nico, looked sporty enough, went to Dortmund Nordstadt, newbie in that area.
When I arrived there were one girl in front of the main door, she started to speak Russian to me, I just smiled at her then I realized when I went inside this Train of Hope-it’s not a train btw 😉 I saw 4 Ukrainian ladies just arrived Dortmund! Aww, my heart! Feel so glad they can reached Dortmund and there were actually someone who taking care of them, legally! Yes, people offer accommodation in their spare room but I think being legal in one country is important too.
I so want to go home as I felt a bit Peinlich (eventhough I don’t have too #quote from der Holger), they were busy with Refugee issue and I was asking for my Zumba class haha Mehh! I manned up! I already there anyway 😉 I asked, not my surprise, she said unfortunately it was cancelled due to the war in Ukraine. Understood, no problem at all!
I wanted to know more about this organization and there were a bunch of volunteer who give their time to society, good to know there are still people doing good deeds here 🙂
I came the following Monday for the German class, I felt like more or less a private class because we were only 4 people. We also had a break for 15 mins and what’s best was they provide foooodd! not sth fancy but it’s good enough for snacking in between classes. Yais Ma’am, I’ll come regularly here for sure 😉 #Marlyn is sold. Btw the online class is good too! Both of the teacher Pia and Robert are so dedicated.
I really happy to found this volunteer organization, I was looking for it for some time, now I got the answer. I’m planning to keep coming to the class, not only for the purpose of learning German but also to get to know who are these people in the organization, if they ever need a Mandarin or Indonesian speaker, I’ll be on board!
Let’s spread some good deeds 🙂
