Yes it was in November – December as the world cup was in Qatar, therefore the tournament was played during Winter or else these whole players would certainly melted!
Football is a big thing in Germany, we watched first match between Germany vs Japan together at the office, it was 14:00 PM German Time technically it was a working hours but heyyy priority! I had to be careful as I am surroundings by Germans! Originally I don’t want to watch it…reasons?… according to me the winner “should be” obvious, however my colleague convinced me to do otherwise, since its probably the only German game we can watch in terms of the different time between Qatar and Germany…plus they had little faith that Germany can go to the next round.
Their doubt was answered pretty quickly. Japan won 2-0 against Germany. I was so so soooo proud of Japan! Yeay Team Asia! For sure nobody expect it! My roomate for 3 years in Shanghai is a Japanese, I need to congratulate her! We were so happy to hear from each other again, we had a quick video call so many things has changed! From when we were student back in year 2013 now she is a mother to a beautiful daughter (sorry people, I don’t like to expose an underage child, I covered her face but you need to know, she’s so cute!)
Unfortunately Japan had to lose against Croatia, it’s kind of sad that Asian team had to leave the tournament. Even so, losing against Croatia it’s not bad heyy they were runner up and my new favorite on last world cup! The Japanese should be proud of themselves!
I’m not sure which game I watched again nevertheless I watched Semi Finals, Croatia against Lionel Messi and his gang hahaha Argentina! Had to admit, the Argentinian played better. With this, my support shift to Argentina. I support whoever beat my favorite teams.
First and foremost support without a doubt goes to Germany. When they lost against Japan then Japan got my support. When they lost against Croatia then Croatia it is. Well, now it is Argentina.
I also watched battle of the third between Croatia and Morocco. Very proud to see Luka Modric getting his medals 🙂
Okay now is the time! This is it! I don’t want France to win, I don’t have any special reason other than they just won last world cup…. yes yes two world cup in a row will definitely comes down in a history… only…. meh! still like the idea that this world cup better go to Argentina 🙂
I gave my undivided 90 minutes attention to the final which in returns gave me nerves, sweating, heart beating fast, stomachache. I need to text my friend 燕巧 to make sure she saw what I see too! I can’t be the only one who is giving heart attack a chance to get closer to my nerves. Both of us need to be on the same boat!
燕巧 and I are Croatian fans, not Argentina fans. In spite of that, given a chance to choose between France or Argentina? We chose Argentina! easy! At the end of the 90 minutes + few minutes additional times + 2* 15 minutes + penalty. We were so relief, happy and proud that Messi got the world cup. I need to call her, check on her if she’s still alive at the end of the final 🙂 Wait! let me correct my sentence before its too late, we originally fans of Germany, since they don’t get through, our support shift to Argentina. Proof? here is our 2018 with German Trikot and 2022 photo 🙂 You didn’t see me clearly but I also wore blue shirt! Match with Argentina!
Thank you football, thank you world cup for uniting me with both two girls that has humongous roles during my study time in Shanghai. All three of us already left Shanghai, each at different times. Eri was my roomate for 3 years, she finished her study before me then went back to Japan. I couldn’t choose better roommate other than her, she clean our room every damn day! since we almost the same size, I borrowed dress, bag and shoes from her haha. We tutor the same kid, 小茂茂 she taught him Japanese while I taught him English. We met each other again when I visited Japan. She even sent me Uniqlo package furthermore made me a small bag or wallet by herself. Some people never change, one is a giver, the other one is a receiver haha. Arigatoooo <3
燕巧 was a very helpful, humble, patience, involving kind of person I ever know. Someone who always give her 110% to help annoying foreign students, never complaints. Salut to you girl! Thank you for giving me a chance to involved in Resident Advisor team 🙂
This world cup lead me to recollect my old memories with both of them. Seeing all of our old pictures, it gave me a mixed emotion, made me sad as well as happy at the same time. Sad for time has fly so fast and will only fly faster, happy because I got to know both of them. Japanese, Malaysian and Indonesian background met in Shanghai. All foreigners yet they helped, supported and respect me. Looking back at all of those memories, there are no words to describe them, they are amazingly kind to me in their own way.
I am simply thankful for both of you, wish you all healthy, success and happy in life. You two are a beautiful person. I really hope there will be a time where we can see each other again my friends!
