Not Marina Kern #wink wink-Part 4

Cakes time!! my sister already said “why you keep eating all the time?!” well this is what we do when we have too much time, we need to keep ourselves busy and baking is one of them! First, you need to get all the ingredients and tools out, second you need to make the dough, third you need to patiently waiting until it’s ready and fourth you need to wash it all and surprise surprise! half day is gone and you have the other half to enjoy it 😉

This time we made a steam sponge cake, my mom wanted to make it so it looks like a watermelon that means we need 4 colors, red / pink, white, green and lighter green. And in order to make it, it will be a little bit advanced pssst just a little bit because we use the mixer! haha finally we are using some tools. Since my dad is the son of a baker in our little village, he knows how to mix the ingredients well and this steam sponge cake recipe is already in his brain since forever.

Here we are with all the ingredients 🙂 3-3-3. 3 eggs, 300ml of sprite and 300 gr of wheat.

And the process of scaling, mixing wheat and sprite and wheat and sprite etc until its finished began! In the end it will get fluffy and so satisfying to see haha

We separated it into 4 different colors then put it into a cup that will go to the steamer. We don’t really have the so called steamer, so we just use the pot that we already have and made it as a steamer.

Tat tararamm after over 15 mins we tried to see how it goes and it went down the hill! What?? such a disappointment after decorating it so that it will looks like a watermelon and it failed! what was the reason?

hmmm! it was because of the pot! then on the second batch we didn’t put too much on the cup so that it will have some space to “erupt” and be a sponge cake.

Yeayy succeed!! Although the sizes are much smaller than what it should be (if we have the real steaming pot the size should be doubled) but it still looks beautiful! So what did we do about it? we doubled the number mwahaha

My mom still the one that insisted to make it looks like a watermelon, my dad and I were the one that kind of randomly putting the colors as it will looks good anyway haha!

Not Marina Kern #wink wink-Part 3

My mom seems to be the one that is very happy with me being at home because my father is in a diet so he has many food that he couldn’t eat therefore she wasn’t really willing to try to make something as she doesn’t want to be the one that need to finish it all. But the situation is different now, I am here and she said “It’s good that you’re at home so I can try make everything that I wanted to and you can eat it” well… bring it on! trust me if this pandemic is over, I’ll promise myself that I will travel everywhere and won’t be at home until the foreseeable future haha 😉

Nothing can go wrong with Oreo I guess, so we made Oreo pudding 😉 and making pudding is really not hard mwahaha and hardly go wrong so it’s always a safe dessert option.

While me and my mom on the kitchen making this pudding, my father was making his own “green bean ice” in the living room and watching Narcos at the same time. He looked the video on youtube and make it without considering how much it will be and he really made a lot and he said to himself perhaps he will be able to finish it all in upcoming 2 months.

But that was what my mom wants…. so mommy got what she wanted, daddy also made his own dessert, what about moi?! I looked on how to “bake” a cake without egg and without an oven, so it was only using microwave. We have 2 types of microwaves, first was the very old probably over 30 years old of microwaves that I’m still surprise it still hasn’t kaputt yet and our brand new microwave! which…has a purpose as an oven! surprise surprise 😉

I followed Emma’s Goodies on youtube as her recipe looks very easy and all I need to do was to mix all the ingredients like flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, melted butter and warm water. Then… put it into a microwave for 5 mins! I like it!

To my father’s surprise the cake turns out pretty well! He’s the son of a baker in our little village so he always think cake needs egg, a mixer and the list goes on and on an on. Well, daddy now it isn’t! haha

With all of this, I’m officially saying goodbye to Summer body this year #adios!

Not Marina Kern #wink wink-Part 2

Ha! Here comes the desert time 🙂 silly confession I just realized that the whole time I was making a pudding and not a cake mwaha! so indeed “Not Marina Kern” title is really suits as what she does is baking with the oven like big oven at her home and what Marlyn Praseli does is making a pudding-oven free 😉

This time we wanted to make a zebra pudding, why its called zebra? because that’s how the youtube chef called it mwahaha and as usual the ingredients are super easy to get, that’s the advantages of Marlyn’s dessert, no fancy thingy attached.

My mom was the one that doing video hunting of how to make it then she wrote down the recipes. My part was always cutting bread before put it on a blender and what happened with the left over bread? just eat it! don’t let it separated by its friends they need to be together on my tummy 😉

I really like when I had to mix the pot because after some time you can smell the smell? hee?? there is a scent or flavor or whatever it’s called and it’s soo yummy! And due to the natural color of the zebra, which is two so we need to make another one with the chocolate. Then we need to put it layer by layer so first is the white, next put the chocolate in the middle and keep going until it goes up.

and it’s ready! hihihi well not ready ready but semi-ready as we need to wait for it to be a bit cool down then put it on the fridge. Usually I will only be able to eat it after half day of putting it there.

And yasss! now is officially ready to be cut and let them all go together to my tummy so they can have meet and greet with their long last friend!

Uh yeah! although the stripes of the zebra was uneven but meh! doesn’t matter, this pudding will be gone very soon and need to make another one 😉

AHAHAHA! Sorry Marina for using your name without your consent but I can’t think of a better headline 😀

As China imposed a travel banned for foreigners started on 28th March until God knows when which means I am still in Indonesia and things getting surreal that I am and will be here way way way waaaaayyyy longer than I expected 😮

With losing my current job just around the corner and I am skeptical about the implementation of my so called “Plan A” , I need to stay sane!

My brothers from a disturbed family make a mouth watering bread last week and it motivates me to do the same! I mean, Marlyn move your ass and follow your brothers!

Hmmmm but I’m not Marina Kern! I don’t have all the necessary ingredients that make the object looks fancy so I went over to Youtube and find how to make something I mean just something! cake, bread etc that is easy to follow and with no complicated ingredients! And here I found the recipe of basic cheese cake and remember this is Marlyn Praseli’s style not Marina Kern’s style so the emphasize is different. Her was more on the star hotel presentation and me, eatable 😀

And see that plastic of sugar?!?! it’s like 120 gram of a real sugar! not like the “fake” (read: healthy) sugar that Marina used pssst!

and yes we only use blender and the pot! very basic, affordable and most important is doable! 😉 I feel like master chef already hahaha tadaamm!

and what can go wrong from this? Nothing! it’s done and it’s cheesy- I mean its a cheese flavor not cheesy cheesy you know.

One of the bright side from this pandemic time is I have all the time in the world and when its all over, I need to have a new skills and why not put baking as one of them??

Ofc the start always a basic but for sure it won’t stop there! I will look another video of how to make anything and hopefully the next zillion one will be as close as Marina Kern’s fancy style 🙂

Fancy Worm

On Saturday morning, as morning as 8 AM with 4 degree Celcius, what is the better way other than to snuggle in your bed under an electric blanket? Phewww lame! Ofc there’s something better, that is to be in other side of where you are, read: Pudong, specifically Mandarin Oriental Hotel, precisely Zest Restaurant.

Our friend from Zero Gravity pole dance, Riccinni, she and her husband have a tradition every month to buy 16 portions for a breakfast. Even though I’m Asian, I can’t do the math, they only 2 people what was the reason to buy 16? And there is only 4 weeks in a month and 4 x 2 equals to 8 not 16? Anyway Riccinni was so kind to invite all of us to have a free breakfast there yeay! Please keep this tradition 😉

At first she wanted to have breakfast at 7:30 AM, I think she’s a follower of “Early bird catch the worm” kind of idiom and it’s challenge for me since I live in Puxi to be there at 7:30 but for a fancy worm, I’ll wake up! Gladly, in the end she decided to start at 8 AM which gave me more time to snooze 😉

I’m happily arrived there, Marina, Echo, Stacey already there and Riccinni’s husband already eaten so its gonna be all girls yeah I think I know the reason she moved the time from 7:30 to 8 😉

Marina took some food and we were on the egg and Indian curry station and she said to me “You can take the food and I’ll follow you” then I have a smart slash efficient plan “Why don’t we just double everything so one plate for both of us, then we don’t need to come back and forth” and at that point she agreed. I took the Indian curry and she said “Marlyn, not everything everything just everything” hee? I don’t get that instruction, anybody does?

Chandni arrived after that and she said “I cant believe they provide curry for breakfast its just too heavy” Marina ordered egg benedicts idk how she found it because its not written anywhere but I ordered the same! M following the other M.

Btw need to be mentioned here that she didn’t even touch the curry that I took! Think about the hungry children Marina! Beni came the last but she left first, she is so efficient, come and eat and vanished, her purpose is done 😉

We were just talking and eating until Riccinni said hi to one of the waiter, be in mind people, she and her husband already live in Mandarin Oriental for 2 years, in other way, the tradition has been going for 2 years so they know all the staff there. He is from Spain, I cant even remember his name must be Ricardo something she said “Hi Ricardo” after saying hi she turned to us girls with additional info “He is single” like how?! How do you know that and how do you ask him? “Hello young boy, do you have someone back home?” Or how how how?!?! This doesn’t add up and she said “Its because I’m old so I can ask this things”

On top of that, later on she even took picture together with him, like all of us plus him and Riccinni will always be so nice “This pic is so good Ill send it to you” and I said to her “Yo, creepy mama, you even have his wechat”

I think Ricardo was a bit reluctant to come to our table again because I have 2 plates that he didn’t pick up and I had to ask other waiter to clean it up. After many hours of eating its time for dessert, I had an ice cream and Chandni again saying “I cant believe they even have ice cream for breakfast?” Yes Chandni we live in an unbelievable world 😉

I am so happy to have this wonderful breakfast and catch up with another pole dance students 🙂 thank you Riccinni for thinking of us and no need to feel sorry because its early as you have a living proof of how much people would travel for a free food 😉

You have your whole squad to finish your breakfast vouchers for next and many more months to come 🙂

The Clueless Night

I always like Christmas, the atmosphere, decoration, carols, the gifts, not all I want for Christmas is you song and so on and so on. The gift is not necessarily important it’s just a feeling of getting a gift and opening it that is so wow to me. And while most people are away during Christmas, make sense, it’s a holiday season after all, I had the privileged to spent Christmas with Elle magazine and Wesley Bear on their Shire 😉 I am so happy that they are staying here during Christmas and they invited me to celebrate it with them. Up until now I have no idea what is Shire haha

The menu was listed like two weeks before Christmas and I was a bit of a complicated person as I don’t eat lamb, fish, fatty pork so I messaged her privately about food restrictions that I can’t eat but I totally clueless that she still need some help on the option 1, 2 and 3 haha yeah I forget the word assist is the synonym of help # excuse my clueless, not native speaker here 🙂 overall, FYI I don’t read between the lines, either tell me exactly what to do or else I won’t feel it haha

Turns out it wasn’t only me that was clueless as Tash and Ira wasn’t responsive as well mwahaha I’m getting some groupies here 😉 but Elle, for sure you know that we didn’t mean that because on the D-day it turns out well! 😉

Then fast forward to less than one week before our dinner plan, Elle herself posted a bunch of restaurant that do Christmas deal like really? I thought we all set and since we all are clueless so we had to put into a vote of where to eat etc, even the votes went to second round really people? Presidency votes only went once and to choose a restaurant we need to vote two times?! I see the priority here and in the end the result was stick to the Shrine wohooo! #now you know what my vote was 😉

From the first time I met Elle and Wesley I always know they stayed at Lou Shan Guan Lu metro station so I was just chill as it wasn’t far from where I live so I asked her again what is the exact address and she said it was on the flyer and they moved to near Shanghai South Railway and I was like “Whaattt???” good that I asked otherwise I will go to a completely wrong direction.

It was a rainy day on Christmas but I like it because I had the chance to wear my rainy boots for the first time ever! I arrived in front of their gate, I was clueless on how to ring a bell for sure I pressed the right number but the intercom didn’t want to call her room, I thought she heard my frustration and opened the door for me, when I arrived Tash was already there. I got welcomed by the very amazing blueberry cheese, bread, ham, chips, champagne and the gift! #thumbs up

Then Wesley arrived, followed by Ira that only stay with us for less than one hour due to she need to catch her flight to Beijing.

Wesley noticed that my front camera wasn’t so bright and both of us are iphone 10 user and we did comparison test but I think my iphone was still brighter than his and Elle said my Huawei is better and we were “this is iphone yo” hahaha

Wesley had this amazing skill of going through express vpn by configuration #something that I don’t understand, due to I don’t use express so he tried to set it up on Tash’s phone and I don’t think it went smooth at the beginning and Tash was nervous if she won’t be able to connect vpn later on mwahaha I have a bit faith in Wes, I don’t think he’s totally clueless 😉

Then our lovely host Elle brought the mushroom soup which she knew for sure that it taste great because guess what? She tasted it! But she had no idea about the main food because she didn’t taste it haha! “So, just remember that the mushroom soup taste good when the chicken arrived” quoted Elle and yes I will remember it 😉

Before Elle serve the food, she asked Wesley to cut the chicken and for some reason she needed all of us to gather on the kitchen to see how Wes did it. She said she fell in love with Wes when she saw he was chopping wood so…..

I have a special non-fatty pork yeay! And we were back to the Shrine’s living room, we were enjoying the food until Wes told us a story about a series that he watched? And he watched a psycho man killing cat and then moving on to killing person, why on earth we talked about that on a Christmas day? #not that we can talk about it anyday, it’s just when Christmas the expectation was getting high 😉

We also gossiped about co-workers and stuff, up until the point Elle said “It’s Christmas why are we gossiping?” haha the night is not even late but our conversation was going all the way. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Ira because we won’t let her miss her plane even though before she fly we talked about plane crash etc haha why we did that to her?! I wanted to say that you do missed a very clueless topic of conversation from trying to get permanent residence of other country and Wes will learn Spanish and Tash thought Spanish was just English ended with “o” like spoon to spoono uh uh no girl that’s not how Spanish sounds like.

Elle asked me at least two times if I was in a hurry and no, never, you have to kick me out to let me get out from your Shrine, just a reminder again that I don’t read between the lines 😉 Wes was trying to maybe give some “cue” which I don’t follow obviously by asking “does anyone wants to have a coffee?” and Tash said “maybe later when we have our desert” and magically the desert appears and he asked again about the coffee until Tash asked “are you hurrying us up, Wes?” haha and Wes told us deliberately about an advertisement of a candle and the flavor of the candle was “get the he$# out of my house” and even with this we totally clueless what was the meaning did Wes really want us to leave? Hahaha No, just kidding, I know you won’t mean that #wink wink 😉

Due to we still have some food left so Elle packed some for me for the next day yeay! 😉 and at some point me and Tash left the Shrine because it’s getting late, turns out me and Tash live not so far away, awesome!!

Thank you Elle and Wes for welcoming me, thank you for Tash and Ira, I’m happy to meet you all. Thank you for the dinner, the gift and the fact that you were so environmental friendly and wrapped it with a used newspaper 😉 Thank you also for my own gingerbread house #drooling. Hope we all happily entering year 2020 and everything that we planned disregard of how clueless it seems tonight will all turn up well 🙂

From Us, With Love

Marina has been here for only about 2 years but she’s been to many many tours than I do. She’s been to a breakfast food tour, night food tour and whatever tour you named it, however she still refused to be called “food blogger” 😉 and I think one day when I was at her home I saw the flyer from one of the food tour she went to and the locations are so close with my home- only around Jiangsu station and her place only one stop from it so she said to me that she wanted to re-create this food tour with herself and I’d like to join! Even though I’ve been here 6.5 years but I don’t go to the place that are listed on the food tour, she got all the pictures and I got the language so here we are! the M&M food tour established that day! #wohooo

But the weather kept avoiding us to do the food tour until yesterday! We both meet up after we got off from work at Jiangsu metro station. While we were walking to the first place, we saw the same tour but we were 10 mins ahead of them haha! The reason why Marina recognizes the tour group is because they gathered at the same place and the tourguide is wearing a dumpling shirts 🙂 P.S: We should make our own shirts!

From her list there are 8 places I guess and we went to the first one which is the what I called the Chinese hamburgers! I liked to eat it a lot when I still a student, but not in this place, it’s somewhere near my lovely Donghua University 🙂

We went to the exact place at 东诸安浜路 Dong’Zhu’An’Bang’ road searched for the famous 肉夹馍 Rou’Jia’Mo but then! after walking back and forth the road like you were ironing a shirt, we came to the point where this place is gone! And there was a guy who later on we figured out his name is either Kevin or Kelvin (somewhere between these two options) told us that he was from the food tour that Marina joined #credit! the name is UNtour and now the place is closed down 🙁 #wow so sad! our first M&M tour and already greeted by a closing down restaurant.

Meh, moving on! Next place is called Golden Phoenix 金凤 Jin’Feng, we had the same food that we like and #not to our surprise, they don’t have it! whaaatttt?!?!?! they dont have the roasted pork 叉烧 Cha’Shao, so we give the benefit of a doubt to the duck, ordered 1/4 of it, the bun and mango dessert 🙂 Hope it will do!

and yes it done its job 🙂 it gave us the energy to moving on to the next place which is Jiu Kuan Ningbo Restaurant 旧款宁波饭店 Jiu’Kuan’Ning’Bo’Fan’Dian here, Marina told me about the fava beans that looks awful but taste good and the bamboo sth so I followed her. When the fava beans arrived….

By the time we almost finished, the UNtour food group arrived and sitting next to us, I directly removed the flyer on the table and put it on my bag haha! and we kind of heard what the tour guide explained the group but again….we don’t care mwahaha sounds so bad but “eyes on the price (read: food)”

Next is the Sichuan place! this place got two names that confused us either 椒羞 Jiao’Xiu or Chili Makes You Ruddy, but bottom line is we arrived at the right place! and here is the time for the noodles 🙂

After this we go to have dumplings at 富春小龙 Fu’Chun’Xiao’Long when we got out, we met either Kelvin or Kevin again, he was talking to someone and turns out this guy was the General Manager of UNtour and he walked with us to the dumplings! Yeay! short walk with the GM booyeah!

Due to this dumpling is our last stop, we need to figure it out how to go home so we stopped at the intersection only to catch up again with the UNtour group and the tour guide just gave the directions to the people and he said “I’ll go here first to buy the dessert for later” Marina was eavesdropping! be careful peeps! 😉

And she said to me “Marlyn, now you need to get in and say to the guy that we want exactly what that guy just bought” hahaha and here we are happily with our dessert!

This is just our fun activities, I believe the food is as good as the companion you share it with, and of course I believe that Marina would like to do it again with our friends if they’re keen of 😉

We are not the real tour guide, we just love food so we won’t be able to give you the knowledge about the originality of each dishes that we had, neither that we care #facepalm. Marina already forgot all the knowledge that the tour guide told her and I don’t even bother to search for it, so relax we won’t take any bit of customer’s share from any food tour 🙂

Blessed The Food… I mean THE CHEF!-Part 6

Now is already September, my fav month of the year! we just had a 3 days holiday for Mid-Autumn festival (actually it’s only 1 because the holiday was on Friday and Saturday and Sunday is weekend sooooo doesn’t count)

On this short holiday, I finally went to M50- the art district and Shanghai Jewish Museum but since I wasn’t into art or museum so it took me 6.5 years in Shanghai to go to this places. It’s good that I don’t go outside Shanghai during this short holiday otherwise I would miss the very fine dine by Chef Thorben on Sunday! On the last day of the holiday, Thorben texted me that he would like to make an early dinner, as early as 4PM… and no matter how early or how weird the time is, I’ll come to his dinner! I was actually a bit afraid that I would spread the flu because I’ve been kind of having some flu for 3 days but after doing voice test I think I should be fine and my brain already switched to the amazing food that I’ll get at Thorben’s so I’m good!

Dinner changed to 5PM and here I came! Ivy and Hai Yan already there before me but for some reason Hai Yan left before even the dinner starts…tsk tsk tsk… Hai Yan said that she left so I can enjoy the wine that she brought but I said to her that I don’t drink wine and she changed to “then I can enjoy more tea” and again I don’t drink tea and she asked me “what do you drink then?” “orange juice” and she will bring orange juice for me next time! Hai Yan, I’ll remember it 😉

Me and Ivy looked at Thorben’s niece album, scan the QR code hoping the video will works but it doesn’t, Thorben check that QR code! The next guess is my one and only handsome Freddoy and he brought us kaya toast! uhlalala!

Next thing I know is the food already on the table!

There were bread and butter, potato with secret recipe, carrots and mashed potato with not so secret recipe because it’s from the video and not from Thorben’s grandma. Boramy said that it is a really German dinner when we have 2 types of potatoes served 🙂

Whole roasted chicken that lived twice longer than it should be and a 1kg beef with the bone.

And the chicken need to be cut by the knife that Thorben made it himself. But because we let the chicken lived twice as long as it should be, it wasn’t ready yet 😉 so Thorben put it back to the oven. Grandpa chicken #Freddoy said that.

I think this is already 6 ish PM and what happen on the neighborhood? I got a text, actually it’s not a text, it’s a picture from the other Germans (read: Felix and Andy) that were on the place not far from Thorben’s (read: Felix’s place) and here’s the pictures ladies and gentleman:

Followed by a supposedly touching sticker “You are our only hope” from Andy

Not sure why I was their only hope tsk tsk tsk and what should I reply then? They sent me pic of beef? I sent them back pic of what I am having at Thorben’s haha See what I got here!

The big question mark is: What do you have there that I don’t have here?!?!

While Thorben, Freddoy, Ivy and Boramy already finished the meal, it means only me that haven’t finished yet and Freddoy said “let’s look at her so she’ll hurry up and we can start the dessert” huaaa handsome Freddoy sorry! I was under pressure! then I cleaned my food so Thorben can serve the dessert:

For some reason I thought fruit salad is a salad so… veggies in the end? and I’m not a big fan of veggies but when Thorben presented the fruit salad it’s a fruit mix! yeay! this one acceptable 😉 mwahaha! and Kaya Toast from Freddoy!

“Masterchef” In Action- Part 2

BAM! This will be the second time I (read: Thorben) will make Indonesian dish 😉 last time we made it with Aggy, this time it will be solely Thorben mwahaha… we will have additional guests, they are Cher and Aaron! Ever since Cher knew that me and Aggy will cook Indonesian dish at Thorben’s, she wanted to be invited and seems the time has arrived for them to try, also for Marina 😉

Even arranging the time for 5 people was quiet hard, we kept changing the dates like 3 times haha but then the date fixed to 4th of August! The day before I went to Carrefour and asking Thorben and Marina do they have this, do they have that and to my surprise they don’t have anything! WHOAAA! what is wrong with them?!?! they used to be like 24/7 groceries stores turns out that time their fridge was quiet empty SURPRISEEE! 😀

I came to Thorben’s before archery to prepare some dish first then went to archery and then came back from archery and continue cooking.

Thorben kept asking “OK, now what do we do?” and he moved fast like chop chop chop wush wush wush and then “OK, what do we do next?” Geezzz, I haven’t even finished reading the recipe yet and he’s already asking the next step…Germans….efficient!

We also tenderize the beef using tenderizer and hammer. This time Thorben didn’t give the most expensive part of the meat because he knew that I will smashed it with hammer and tenderizer for at least 40 mins. I remember Thorben said if he is in the Avengers, he will for sure be a Thor, he even have a Thor’s hammer 😉 you are good to go for Thor!

Marina was on the phone with Sandra the whole time so she’s kind of lost on our preparation, up to the point where we almost need to leave for Archery and she made me a mango-avocado-smoothie yummyyy! and her smoothie was the fancy one with chia, coconut etc etc etc and all ingredients are from Germany!

Marina expected us to win on the game…. apparently none of us won! not the first time reality doesn’t fulfill the expectation mwahaha we probably need more bowl of that 😉

Fast forward after archery we came back and opened the door and we both “WOW” because Marina has prepared the table! amazing! but for now we need to continue our business in the kitchen with the main dish, beef!!

There was a bit of the drama on the kitchen like our small pancakes aka perkedel were tearing apart, the beef wasn’t absorb the sauce so we kept adding the ketchup, rice need to be made but not enough coconut cream so Thorben finished his coconut oil and mix it together.

Thanks that both Cher and Aaron are not Germans so when I said dinner at 7PM they won’t come at 7 sharp arp arp haha which is good because we haven’t finished cooking by that time haha! By the time Cher arrived she said “Oh, turns out Thorben’s cooking not Marlyn” #facepalm!

Even though we had the drama during the process but in the end I’m happy with the result 🙂 Thorben was saying “the beef is exactly how it suppose to be and everything is fine” Marina said “the beef was flavory” YEAY! I’m satisfied 😉 and they all like the perkedel!

Marina prepared the dessert and Cher brought us stroopwafels and I wasn’t too tired because Thorben did the cooking the most mwahaha! 😀

By the time we officially finished the dinner, we used 1L of sunflower oil and 16L of water! hahaha that’s a lot!

Btw I asked my mom to make the dish for you when you come to my home so that you could taste my fav food when I was a child…or maybe I still am 😉 Thank you Thorben and Marina! I always happy to “cook” or just crash at your place 😀

The Real Lucky Draw

On Friday 5th of July, one of food app has a treat in one of restaurants. They hold this kind of treat every month to at least 4 restaurants and all we need to do is to save the event and they will give us the code 1 day in advance if they pick us or not. The number of people that got this free treat is always below 10 and the number of people that interested in this treat is always way way wayyyy above 10. I have been trying to participate like 3 times maybe and I always not getting the invitation 🙁

At first the closing time for RSVP was at Thursday 12PM but I forgot to check the app until 10 mins before 5PM. For this Friday the event will hold in Yasmine Steak. When I checked it the list hasn’t got out yet and I contacted my one and only friend at Yasmine-Luvi! I put “pressure” to her to pick me and her response was so cool “how? to pick?” and I know sth good will happen soon 😉 when the key person participate to help you, this is where the magic happens 🙂 and really sometimes all you need to do is to know someone that knows someone 😉

Long story short, I got the code! wohoo it feels like winning a lottery! yeah finally Marlyn’s time to perform! (I mean eat) haha

I asked her what color of clothes she will wear so I’ll wear the same and we’ll look like sisters 😉 Btw, Luvi is from Philippines so we kind of sisters already- The South East Asian sisters, biatch! haha

The day is here! I was of course super on time probably let’s say wayyy to early as I need to secure my spot but I wasn’t the first one arrived, Laurens was the first one. He was looking at the newspaper / menu of Yasmine’s and I said to him “But the menu is already been set we don’t need to see it” haha

On this bon treats, I also met Rachel, the girl that gave me her backpack that I wear every day now and I think sooner or later the zipper will breaks hahaha As we need to wait until all 10 of us were here so what did we do? we took some pictures! The pre dinner pictures and we need to take pictures with Luvi obviously! and of course with the board saying I *heart* bon app! haha

Then when all of us arrived, Luvi reveal the food. The set menu was really really tempting and I guess it’s the best menu ever so for anyone that wants to eat at Yasmine’s here’s the menu that you should order 😉

Even though some food are for shared but trust me I had a meat-coma yesterday! The food was soooo sooo soooo much and on top of it its not only the quantity that was a lot but the quality was super good as well! My fav was the asparagus soup, toast shrimp , 1kg australian super hawk steak and molten lava cake! *blink blink!

Luvi was soooo nice and she really is someone that is dedicated to her work. She said “Choose your drink from whatever it is on the menu and it’s free flow you can drink anything that you want” damn! girl! I wish I could drink that much alcohol mwahaha and for me I ordered myself a Caipirinha with a very cute lime as decoration to put the strawberrys 😉

Me and Rachel was sitting side by side, she’s also from Philippines and both of us was so noisy and loud, I feel bad (read: honestly, not really just a little bit) for others Yasmine’s customer yesterday, I saw that Luvi talked to the other customer (read: two blonde girl across our table) saying that we were loud! haha #got busted girl!

When the food came, she’s reading the menu on her phone and I said “Rachel, it’s 1 RMB you can’t see what’s on the menu, we already eat way more than 1 RMB” haha and she said “No, I’m just checking which one is it because we need to write the review!” hahaha

As the night goes by the conversation was getting so vary, now we all know the story of Kevin’s sister that broke up with her bf after 2 weeks and for some reason Kevin was happy but my memory split into two when Luvi said desert is coming so I didn’t get the full story of how a 13 years old girl break up with her bf story haha

And the same Kevin aka Bon App Mattie aka the one that send me the code somehow said that “We could have a Bon App Wedding Treats for 1 RMB” and the candidate was me and Laurens, yeah, who else it’s gonna be. And I showed both of them my ring finger (mind you that it’s not a f*%k u finger) and I said “I don’t see ring here, give me the ring”

I think we were there until almost 10PM and on the last one hour I just spent my time by standing and walking around Yasmine as I was already super full, I can’t sit anymore and of course the night didn’t end with only dining food. Luvi prepare for us sausages and meat and 100RMB off for our next time come to Yasmine.

I mean seriously! I’ve never been to this 1RMB Bon Treat before but as far as I’ve heard from Kevin, this Yasmine’s treat was the one that has more food and free flow drink and then this take away gift! like Yasmine really set the high bar for the other restaurants. I’m glad my first Bon Treat was with Yasmine 😉

Thank you Luvi for all the hospitality that you provide to us. I’m sure we all very happy and had a good experience and I believe we will come back and bring more people to Yasmine PUXI! haha not sure about Pudong or Minhang 😉

I still need to have a proper picture with the background that is written Yasmine so then we went to the next door where currently it’s a hotpot area-still Yasmine’s though. Rachel took many pictures and then I changed my pose by putting the bon app board high up and Luvi said “You said you want to see the Yasmine’s written on the background and now you cover it” hahaha

But then again I said to Rachel “I want to have a normal picture one” and Luvi said “Normal? with you?” haha I mean not using bon app board again!

The supply chain of thank you should be like this: thank you Bon App for having Yasmine’s as your bon app treat, now moving on to thank you Luvi for letting me having dinner there, thank you for the cook to serve us with amazing food. I’ll make sure that I’m not an ungrateful little bastard that not coming back, I mean I need to use the 100RMB off! so I’ll be back 😉
